Hot Dog reviews! #HD2010 continues as we travel through our favorite and new places to try the all American favorite – the hot dog.

(Sorry, that sounded like the lead in my Marc Summers).

recommended by Cara Lageson (@caralageson) Map Room Bar (@MapRoomBar) in Cleveland across from Constantino’s was the place to be.

Let me set the stage for you: It was 12 noon / We were not drunk / Bar was empty.

AND, we were perplexed that a bar had a full hot dog menu

But hey, food can be found anywhere right?

So we called the Bowzer down for “a meeting” and decided this man-date was all about hot dogs (Yes-This post is dedicated to The Bowzer).

Our pictures are dark as Map Room Bar doesn’t exactly turn on the lights. Like any strip club, I don’t think they turn them on unless there is an emergency.

My favorite type of shoes

Speaking of strip clubs, let get on with the hot dogs.

#1 The “Municipal” Stadium Dog: all beef hot dog with ketchup and stadium mustard.

A killer $2! The cheapest menu item. This no frills hot dog with ketchup and stadium mustard was just that – nothing special. Bun was smashed and lightly soggy – so yes, its kinda just like what you’d get at the stadium.

And yes, probably would have tasted better in the stadium. Sadly they didn’t even yell “RED HOT” when we placed our order.

Seemed to be the same amount of ketchup and mustard as actual hot dog.

As the Captain of Encased Meats stated the cardinal rule of hot doggers – NO KETCHUP ON YOUR HOT DOG.

The word of the dog…Thanks be to dog.

#6 Chicago Style Dog: Vienna Beef Hot dog with relish, onions, sport peppers, mustard, tomatoes.

This isn’t pretty.

*tomatoes are not supposed to be chunky canned tomatoes. They are sliced fresh.

*That’s not quite a chicago stylin “neon green relish”.

*Onions were minced perfectly for King Kong.

*Should be “pepper” not “peppers” as I could only find one.

*Stop smashing the bun. Believe me, you ain’t hermetically sealing it in parchment paper.

*Bun is more moist (than warm)?

*Say it with me, “Poppy seed bun”.

Unless the main focus is the 0200 drunkard, I think this one needs some retooling.

Friends, family and foodies from Chicago – you can rest comfortably.

#5 Euclid beach Coney dog: Vienna Beef coney topped with chili, mustard and onion

This fine piece of work was the winner-winner-weiner-dinner of the day thanks to Bowzer.

Compared to Ben’s Big Bowl? Detroit’s Coney Island Dogs, etc…..not quite. But the best dog of Map Room’s bunch.

The heavy chili sauce, thin strip of mustard and onions were a dang good match.

Maybe we should consider traveling along Euclid Ave for a few dogs before the summer’s end.

#4 The Drew Carey: All beef kosher dog topped with BBQ sauce, slaw and fries

This is more fries and slaw than actual dog. Like Drew Carey, this hot dog was misshapen and top-heavy.

And stop smushing the buns! Leave the smushing to the Vinny and Angelina. DTF.

Bowzer chants, "smush-smush-smush-smush-smush"

Unlike Jersey Shore MIA, this low scoring trip to MapRoom didn’t really help for our search for the best dog around.
